The next MG National meeting is being hosted by MGCC South Australia in the lovely area of Glenelg.

I love National Meetings and over the past 30 years I have only missed a handful. I can chart the activities of the years based on where the National Meeting was that year.
The last time we went to South Australia, I competed alone in the MGZR for its first Nat Meet outing. Darren had been thinking of competing at Bathurst but hurt his back and decided he couldn’t even sit long enough to make the journey to Adelaide over three days. Belinda (our daughter) was on her Ls and it was a good opportunity to build up some driving hours. It was a slow trip when Belinda was driving as she could only drive at 80 km per hour. It was the first time I won the Joan Richmond trophy which was a surprise. The theme night was Pirates and we went as Peter Pan characters. For the first time a group travelled via Dubbo and Broken Hill. It rained that first day and Belinda scraped the bottom of the front bumper when she drove too quickly up the driveway of the lunch stop on the first day. Given the car had just been resprayed, I wasn’t happy. Between Dubbo and Broken Hill, we ran into a plague of locusts. This freaked out Belinda and threatened to block the flow of air through the grill, so we had to stop regularly to de-bug and Andy Peters hosed down the front of the car with a fire hose at the Motel in Broken Hill. Ah good times! Am I selling it well yet?
For next year’s event, I have so far only received a couple of expressions of interest in attending which makes booking accommodation very difficult. I’m interested in hearing from anyone who is thinking of making the event (apart from Walkers, Dale Powell and the Collins’- I know you are interested). I need to book accommodation soon.
There is a lot of good information on the SA Club websitewww.mgccsa.org.au (click on the MG National Meetings tab and it’ll take you to the page). Complete with a count-down of days! You can also register to receive information directly. Darren also found the event set up on CAMS MEE but it is only a test event, so don’t enter that way.

It is expected that Entry Registration forms will be available in November and entry fee will include entry to Concours, Speed Event (at Mallala circuit) or Touring Observation Run, Motorkhana and all social events such as welcome get together Friday night, Social Dinner on the weekend, Presentation Night and Farewell breakfast.
